Ed and Chet in the Double R

Chet watched Ed leaving the diner and saying a quick goodbye to Norma.
He thought about what he said. He was afraid of what he might discover about himself by going to the sheriff's. Ed probably had lived his entire life, or most of it in that town. He probably knew who were the right people to handle that kind of situation of his, but it wasn't that simple to him.
He had to think things through first. He called Norma who approached smiling.

"Hi John. I thought you had already left with Ed. Can I get you anything else?"

"No Norma, I'm fine, thank you. I just need some information. How can I get to the sheriff's office?"

She had a concerned look on her face. She probably thought that wasn't of her business since she didn't knew that man that well, so she just gave him the directions.

"I hope everything is OK", she just said.

"Everything 's fine, don't worry", he said, then thanked her for the information and left the diner. He knew he wasn't going to the sheriff's, at least not yet.
